# What counts against quotas

> A response counts when submitted; an adaptive response counts when the AI actually engaged. Overage nags - it never drops data.

Two meters per workspace per month:

- **Responses** — each completed submission counts once. Test responses count until deleted.
- **Adaptive responses** — counts only when AI features actually ran for that response (a follow-up asked or a semantic check performed). A static submission on an adaptive form doesn't burn one.

The AI layer also has token ceilings (per response, per day) that make it [degrade gracefully](/help/adaptive/ai-follow-ups) rather than block anyone. All numbers: [limits](/help/limits).

## FAQ

**Can I lose respondent data by going over quota?**
No. Responses are always accepted and stored - exceeding a quota triggers upgrade nags for the owner, never data loss.
